Weekly update

Weekly update


What a week!!  I really tend to have good ideas at the time but some are better then others.  The choice to take out our kitchen flooring 2 months ago without a plan was not the smartest idea.  Finding a contractor to come and do the project was half the battle. But once we really started to look around a few other things were added to the list.  The first day of having the house under construction left us needing a place for lunch I failed to plan ahead so we headed out for lunch.  not wanting to make that a habit we enjoyed the living room floor for the next few days. 



It's hard to believe all that I've called this house "home" for the past 11 years.  I remember it like yesterday looking at houses with my mom and dad at the age of 19 and my dad saying this will be a great starter home.  Boy was he right!!  We are squeezing every last inch out of the house and now just waiting for the next steps in our lives and where we will end up.  God has a perfect place and all the details will workout according to his plan.  So in the mean time I'm practicing patience and also the house is in tip top shape!!



What was helpful this week?  Making a batch of plan vegetables and putting the proper portion in baggies so it's easy to pull from the fridge.




So what workout is next???  Less Mills pump I've wanted to do this workout for awhile and with spring time right around the corner if it works out on the off days of pump I will run outside if not I will do my turdo fire cardio inside.  It's been a long winter so being able to mix it up for sure is in place.  Pump is designed with repetition in place and in the program the bar is included with the workouts.  Yippy!!

I honestly feel so excited when anything comes to my front door from beachbody.  This is going to be a good workout honestly just taking the box to the basement was a workout with all the goodies that comes with this program.  It was an easy pick because of the amazing deal beachbody is offering for the month of March on this program.  Ekkkk if you want to join me in this workout it's always more fun to do it with someone then by yourself, especially when your doing the same program.

And of course having a plan with what your eating is soooo important now don't get me wrong I'm human and sometime I get a little of the plan but so many times this has saved be with having the food purchased prepped and ready to eat vs not having a plan and just grabbing on the go.  Plus you will see a lot of time I will eat the same foods for a few days, that way I'm able to save money vs buying a bunch of different foods and not using everything I buy.

Homemade Granola

How many times have you gone to the grocery store wanting that little bit of crunch to add either to your yogurt or on top of your fresh fruit.  So your scanning the boxes of granola only to find each one of them fill with a ton of sugar.  This recipe allows you that crunch without the sugar plus your getting a good amount of fiber from the flaxseed.

Homemade Granola



Ingredients:



  • 3/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
  • 3 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/3 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix until evenly blended.  Press mixture into a baking pan and bake for 40 minutes.  Enjoy 1/2 cup as a superfood snack.

Benefits of flaxseeds

1- flax seeds is a great source of fiber. Most Americans do not get enough fiber in their diet. Each tablespoon of flax contains about 8 grams of fiber. This helps keep the bowels regular. Because of all the fiber, be sure to start slow (say, with a half-teaspoon) and build up. Otherwise, you may experience bloating.

2- flax seeds is a plant source of omega-3. Once again, most Americans are short on their omega-3 fatty acids. These essential fatty acids ("essential" meaning they must be consumed because our bodies don’t make them) play an important role in the anti-inflammatory system of our body.

3- flax seeds contains lignans which reduce the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. The lignans alter the way your body metabolizes estrogens into safer forms.

As if this wasn’t enough, flax seeds has been shown to reduce hot flashes in menopausal women. To reap the benefits, this requires a daily dose of 2 tablespoons. And flax can normalize the menstrual cycle by supporting the second phase.

This is WHY I became a beachbody coach truly was to make a difference and seeing transformations like this makes it all worth it!!  Sarah is a sweetheart after sitting down with her yesterday afternoon and talking with her about her "WHY" it's very clear that she loves her family.  This girl is a full time teach drives a distance to work everyday and came to me wanting to make a change in her eating.  But the cool thing about Sarah she wanted to better herself and help others do the same.  She jumped in with both feet doing both and I'm so proud to have her on my team.

10 Benefits to Drinking Warm Lemon Water Every Morning
1) Aids Digestion. Lemon juice flushes out unwanted materials and toxins from the body. It encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that is required for digestion. Lemons are also high in minerals and vitamins and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract. The digestive qualities of lemon juice help to relieve symptoms of indigestion, such as heartburn, belching and bloating. The American Cancer Society actually recommends offering warm lemon water to cancer sufferers to help stimulate bowel movements.

8) Freshens Breath. Besides fresher breath, lemons have  been known to help relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. Be aware that citric acid can erode tooth enamel, so you should be mindful of this. No not brush your teeth just after drinking your lemon water. It is best to brush your teeth first, then drink your lemon water, or wait a significant amount of time after to brush your teeth. Additionally, you can rinse your mouth with purified water after you finish your lemon water.

9) Hydrates Your Lymph System. Warm water and lemon juice supports the immune system by hydrating and replacing fluids lost by your body. When your body is deprived of water, you can definitely feel the side effects, which include: feeling tired, sluggish, decreased immune function, constipation, lack of energy, low/high blood pressure, lack of sleep, lack of mental clarity and feeling stressed, just to name a few.

10) Aids in Weight Loss. Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. Studies have shown people who maintain a more alkaline diet, do in fact lose weight faster. I personally find myself making better choices throughout the day, if I start my day off right, by making a health conscious choice to drink warm lemon water first thing every morning.

April 7th challenge group

April 7th challenge group

Wow this has been the longest winter in Pa. I feel like we have been indoors with two little ones for what feels like years.  A few warmer days last week for sure started the thoughts of bringing out the next season of clothes.  I'm so thankful that I will need to buy all new in a smaller size.  I'm so thankful for the additional support on staying on track this winter and not gaining back ANY of the weight I lost last year.



The truth is after I had our 2nd daughter last Feb.  I needed HELP.  I was tired all the time, no energy, I was not myself and just plan was unhappy with how I looked in the mirror.  So a friend of mine had great success with joining an online closed facebook challenge group and had kept the weight off.  The thought of asking for help was the hardest part (I tend to be independent) but it turned out this was the best choice I made.  What was missing?  I need accountability, a plan, proper nutrition, a routine, others going thru the same thing, something I could do from home, a workout I looked forward to doing, recipes, clean eating, and guess what I had results at the end of the challenge group.  I was thrilled I gained confidence, I was a better wife, mother, happier person, a ton of energy, and could not wait to share it with others.

The scale does not define you

I really wanted to write this blog because I know how many struggle with the scale and believing they will be happy with themselves when they hit the magical number on the scale.  Have you ever been told by a weight loss expert to throw away your scale?  If you did weight watchers you were defined by the scale each week!  Every week you weighed in and it honestly didn't matter what you ate the week before as long as you lost weight.  So you could eat processed TV dinners and Diet Coke as long as you stayed within your points range and lost weight.  That's great for some but it's not creating a healthy lifestyle.

For most the number is a number they were when they were in their early 20's,pre kids, or what they believe models on TV weight. The problem is your weight on the scale can literally change up to 4 lbs. on any given day. Due to water weight, muscles swelling, certain times of the month, even the way the scale sits on the ground and not being completely level. So we all know the truth is when you step on that scale and the number has not changed or went up. You throw your hands up in the air, you might skip that workouts that day, add an extra 500 calories to your diet all because the magical number did not show up on the scale.  So before you go off and down an extra 700 calories because the scale did not give a magical number ask yourself these questions:
Did I overeat this week on any given day- Y or N
Did I move and make EACH workout stellar- Y or N
Did I feel lighter then I did 7 days ago when I stepped on the scale- Y or N  
Did I eat in secret or out of anger or frustration- Y or N
Did I feel at any time in the last 7 days I ran to food for comfort- Y or N
So why or why do we get stuck on the number on the scale. Be real and don't let the number on the scale set you up for feeling defeated. Follow these few questions and stick to yes's and over a period of time YOU will see results!!

  I like to compare it to money, yes I know that sounds odd but hear me out. So your working a job and you just feel in your heart if only I made x amount of money then I would be happy. It's the same way with getting healthy most believe when that magical number appears on the scale they will be happy. I challenge you to love yourself right where your at. Because if not when you do reach that number its not going to be enough you will want to loss just 2 more lbs. It's the same way with income and how much money you make I challenge you to always be working on bettering yourself with health and exercise being consistent.

So how often to weight yourself? ONCE a week the same time every week!!  But beyond the number on the scale judge how your clothes are fitting.  The number on the scale is just a number and YEs is important to have weight loss goals but anyone that has been in one of my online challenge groups know that we set other goals other then the number on the scale, maybe to be able to wear a dress that has not fit in a few years, or buying a cute summer top and working towards having nice defined arm muscles.  Set small manageable goals and build from that.   I've been were your at and it's so important to measure progress in other ways like taking pictures.  Everyone has a day one and it is always eye opening but so worth taking.

Chase your dreams

Heck I'm going to put it out there,  I'm looking for folks that are wanting something different in life.  Maybe your sitting on the couch reading this and wonder what the heck am I doing with my life.  This is not at all where I picture myself at this age.  Maybe your full time job just plan SUCKS!!  You go to work every day working for someone else's future you do not have passion for your job.  Maybe the drive to work every day is taking a toll on not only your car but you as a person.  you long for change but feel stuck at your job.  You want the freedom to have more flexability in your life.  Maybe everyday you drop your young baby off at daycare you hold the tears back and wish and hope for change.

What if beachbody could change your life?  What if this coaching thing is a fit for you.  What if you don't have to continue to live life the way you are.  What if????

I never want to go thru life saying what if and I don't want you to do the same.  I'm looking to mentor 3 to 5 folks that are looking for purpose in their life.  I want to help create a "job" that you can't sleep at night because you have so many ideas on how to reach more people and help them get healthy.  You are only given ONE life here on earth and each day you are not living life to it's fullest it's wasted time. 

I'm here to shake you up and ask you to join me on this journey of helping others get healthy.  Your choice where do you see yourself 5 years from now?  Heck where do you see yourself 6 months from now??

When I set out 10 months ago to loss the baby weight and join an online challenge group I had no idea that it would not only change my life but others around me.  I'm on a mission to help others feel better in their own skin but I can't do that on my own.  I'm looking for go getters self motivated folks that want to go some where in life.  The bench your sitting on is warm time to get up and step out of your comfort zone. 

This is soooo hard but every success store that comes across my way is one more reason this all makes it worth it.  Work were you want when you want with out a cap on how far you take it.

I'm a small business own with our family business and the idea of owning my own business with out a finical deposit was very odd to me and I wished someone would of told me sooner about MLM.  I'm a dreamer and I have big dreams and I'm looking to surround myself with other big dreams.  Why because big dreamers makes big doers!!



Sunny blue skies.....Winter is almost over this year but living in Pa we all know it will return again next winter. It's so amazing that a BONUS from beachbody is a trip to Cancun 2015. I mean next year while everything is still blaaaa and ...cold a FREE family trip to Cancun will be happening. All from helping others live a healthier lifestyle.

21 day fix oatmeal cookies

It's hard to believe this is my second round of the 21 day fix.  The workouts are easy to follow but affective plus only 30 minutes a day is a bonus.  So on the 21 day fix your aloud three extra a week and this recipe happens to be one of them it counts for one yellow container.

21 day fix oatmeal cookies


Directions:
nonstick cooking spray
1 cup of old-fashion rolled oats
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1 cup of unsweetened applesauce
1/4 semisweet chocolate morsels
1/4 cup chopped raw toasted pecans

1. preheat oven to 350 degrees
2.lightly coat baking sheet with spray. set aside
3. combine oats, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl and mix well
4. add applesauce, morsels, and pecans, and mix well.
5. drop by heaping tbsp. onto prepared baking sheet and flatten with a spatula.
6. bake for 14 to 16 minutes or until firm.

Wow hard to believe my first round of the 21 day fix group is over where did the time go?  I love running challenge groups and this is by far my favorite part of what being a beachbody coach is all about.  Helping someone else better their health and fitness.

This program is a game changer not only as a coach but for the challengers.  I believe that anyone can stay focused for 21 days straight and put energy into portion control and clean eating mixed with simple but yet affective workouts.



I was so excited when Allison was ready to make a commitment for 21 days.  She is a go getting and goes all in , in anything she starts.  She had done Insanity and T25 in the past but never made the commitment to drinking shakeology and a challenge group.

But hitting her highest weight was a braking point.  She is a busy mom of 2 little boys and a full time nurse, but for 21 days she gave it her all.  This was only 12 days in and I can't wait to see the final results.  She is naturally a runner and has been since high school. She ran while doing this program as well.  She is training for a half marathon this summer and is going to repeat the 21 day fix.

The great news is at the end of 21 days a habit has been created and you did not even realize it.  Every single person in this first round of challenge groups had results and are going to continue to make healthy eating and exercise a part of their day.

What can you expect from a challenge group?
 
My ultimate goal is to see others have success it's not about "selling" you a program and hoping it works out the best!! So, the group is a select group of people that I will choose that are committed to getting the results and that are ready to truly make a change.  I will have a closed online support group where each day you will get a post from me, a video, or a tip to keep you motivated accountable and moving in the right direction.  I will help you plan out your meals, give you ideas, and help you stick to it.  You will be required to participate in the group discussions, get the challenge pack that includes both the shakeology and the workout program to maximize your results.  I find that when I incorporate shakeology that people get better results bc it's one meal that they don't have to plan, portion out or wonder if they have the right combination of foods. This way, its a no brainer.  Then when the group is over you can decide whether or not to continue with Shakeology.  But it's totally worth it.
 
 I will discuss topics like emotional eating, eating out, traveling, temptations, late night snacking and more.  I will give you lots of my tips and tricks to keep you moving in the right direction.  At the end of the 21 days we will measure progress and you have the option to continue or move on!

 Round 2 of the 21 day fix is in full affect I'm feeling more confident in branching out and making new recipes.  So this bad boy was underway today, This is an easy recipe to follow even if your "not a cook".  the prep time on this is not long at all and if your a busy mom or working mom this recipes can totally be prep at the beginning of the week and put in the oven to be baked.  The house smelled amazing while making this recipe the kids loved it as well.

21 Day Fix Stuff Peppers



4 green bell peppers, tops removed, seeded

1 lb.s of ground turkey

2 tablespoons of olive oil

½ cup chopped onion

1 zucchini chopped

½ red bell pepper

½ yellow bell pepper

1 cup of fresh spinach

1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes cut in half

6-8 oz. tomato sauce

Italian seasoning for taste

Garlic powder for taste

Pepper for taste
American slice cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees 

Wrap the green bell peppers in aluminum foil, and place in a baking dish. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from heat.

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the turkey until evenly brown. Set aside. Heat oil in the skillet, and cook onion,  zucchini, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, and spinach until tender. Return turkey to the skillet. Mix in the tomatoes and tomato paste, and season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stuff the green peppers with the skillet mixture.

Return peppers to the oven, and continue cooking 15 minutes.

If you want to add the cheese I broiled it for the last 5 minutes for the cheese to be a little golden brown on top
