Almond Joy Shakeology

Almond Joy Shakeology

Hey there!!  I'm excited to share with you my new favorite shakeology recipe!!  But first I could not help but share a few details on shakeology to help others see the full value in the meal replacement.  This past weekend I was outside our newly purchased farm and two older men pulled up and knew the original owners of the place.  We went on to talk and they asked "If my dad was around" ummm nope I'm the owner.  It kind of made me giggle but coming from a mom of three little one's that hasn't slept in 4 years, never wears make, but some how finds the time to workout and eat clean 80% of the time--Cool!!

So prior to budgeting in $3.33 a day for my shakeology I was tired, my skin DID NOT look like this, my hands hurt all the time, and a headache almost every day.  I truly believe in living life to its fullest and I CLEARY could not do so two years ago.  I was afraid of shakeology like for real, what if I'm hungry?  I breastfeed what is in shakeology is it safe?

We all know and fall into the "Diet Cycle" and it really makes sense with the way that I used to do things!  The Recommended Daily Allowance of Calories for many of us is somewhere around 2,000.  So if we want to lose weight, we are going to have to create some sort of calorie deficit by eating less and also burning off x amount of calories through exercise.  We have ALL had those Mondays where THIS IS THE DAY that we are going to "do better". Crap by Tuesday at 2:00 pm I'm hungry and want to eat everything in site.  We begin to eat less and try to make more healthy choices.  We become more active.  After 5-7 days we can see some progress and we are really excited!  By 10-14 days it all begins to catch up with us.  We are just plain TIRED.  We are asking our bodies to do more with less.  We have hit a nutrient deficit and this comes across as cravings.  We may become irritable and grouchy.  The cravings escalate and as we give in to a few of them, we may go overboard and then wind up feeling guilty.

So how can shakeology become a game changer for your health?  When looking at meal replacement shakes, you want to make sure that you are avoiding soy.  Soy is a cheap filler.  It interrupts digestion and lowers our immune system.  Avoid artificial sweeteners.  There are so many studies which show that they actually stimulate our appetite and increase insulin production in our body.  You also want to steer clear of artificial flavors.  After some time of eating clean, our taste-buds will be retrained to where we are truly able to appreciate natural flavors like never before!

Shakeology is like 6 trips to the salad bar with good nutrition but for around 150 calories.

Shakeology is full of super-foods!  In short, super-foods strengthen our immune system.  They repair our GI system so that digestion improves and we are able to absorb nutrients.  This also promotes regularity in that department!  Super-foods reduce chronic inflammation and that is crazy-important!  Inflammation destroys cells and leaves us at risk for all sorts of disease.  I know of so many people who used to deal with painful inflammation-related conditions (myself being one of them) and they are significantly reduced  through the use of Shakeology!  Many chronic diseases are preventable or at least slowed with better food choices and exercise.  Taking shakeology and giving it a 30 day trial to see what the superfoods will help with is worth trying, how will you know unless you give something a whirl!!

Pumpkin Baked Oatmeal

Pumpkin Baked Oatmeal

Well hello Fall!!  Yesterday made fall official for the year 2015, this time of the year I start to focus on end of the year goals life, business, family, fitness, and all the things that fall between the cracks of the day.  Three weeks ago my son start preschool and of course like any mom will tell you somewhere I blink and he want from needing help with things to being a little man.  I'm thankful he is doing well, change is hard for him.  The kids go a few mornings a week to childcare so that I can work for our traditional business and they truly enjoy it.  However getting out the door in the morning is a challenge!  Someone (out of three kids) is always crying, someone does not like what is for breakfast, someone needs SOMETHING!!  So when I came across this fall recipe I wanted to give it a try, BOTH kids loved it and asked for more.  I personally like it because it falls into the 21 day fix meal plan.  If you're someone that follows this system this recipe would could for one yellow per serving and half a blue container.   The recipe makes 12 servings also I was able to make this recipe from start finish in TEN MINUTES!!  I used walnuts because that was the nut I had on hand in the house, pecans are a sweeter nut.

21 day fix meals

Ingredients
  • ½ cup walnut or pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree my favorite place to pick this up is at Trader Joe's
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil room temp.
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly  spray with nonstick cooking (I like coconut oil) spray an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. Spread chopped walnuts or pecans on an ungreased baking sheet and toast for 4 to 6 minutes or until fragrant and light golden brown. Cool on baking sheet.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin, milk, eggs, coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla; beat until smooth. Blend in oats, toasted nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt; stir until mixture is well-combined.
  4. Spread oatmeal into prepared baking dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until set and light golden brown on top. Allow to cool in the baking dish for at least 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with fresh fruit or pure maple syrup.

3 Day Refresh Results

I help others with getting start and back on track and wanted to share results from current customers and coaches on our team.

Unknown-
Excited here today!!! I know that we should not always be checking the scale. But I needed to be sure my 4 pounds loss from the refresh stayed lost. WELL - TODAY showed another pound gone after using the 21 day fix containers yesterday. Down 5 pounds in 4 days.
Packing my containers for work. Good attitude for the weekend.

Laura-
5.8 pounds and 1.5 inches!!! I'm ready to keep going to make my August 31st goals. It wasn't always fun, but I completed the refresh and I'm so very very glad that I did. I feel so excited.

Amy P.-
"Here are my official 3 Day Refresh results! I really want to preface my results with something first. I have always been a petite person but getting back to my starting size of 116.5 lbs took work. I ga...ined 45-50 lbs during each of my pregnancies. Clean eating, Shakeology, and the Beachbody workouts (mainly PiYo) got me back to my pre-pregnancy weight. It wasn't hard, but I was consistent and disciplined. I believe so much in these programs, especially for really busy people!

Now, my results for the 3 Day Refresh are 4 lbs lost. I also lost 2 inches from my waist and 1 inch from my hips. I've gained an appreciation for good and healthy food again, a realistic perspective when it comes to food portions, awareness of how much I used to eat unconsciously munching on snacks and my children's food. The Refresh really helped to break some unhealthy eating habits that I had picked up on my vacation a few weeks ago. I'm taking so much more away from these 3 days than just lost weight and inches. It is so worth the small effort to do the Refresh!"-Amy

Snip-Its of Life

Snip-Its of Life

Hey there!!  As I was spending the afternoon cleaning out stalls in the barn and taking care of the livestock I had time to think about the last month.  If you follow me you know a few things, my family is super important, I love anything country with class, enjoy being a business owner, and enjoy stretching the limits in life.  About four years ago taking that jump into being an entrepreneur has been well worth it but to be honest I still struggle with my best is just not enough.  And I know many others struggle with this being a mom there is a lot of pressure put on us from all angles.  Even my workouts have to be all in jumping higher, running faster, etc.  I decided to take a step back and for the past few weeks enjoying a low intensity workout call Piyo.  And you know what just like in life higher faster is not always the only way and the best way.  There are points in life you will go all in and points in life where you step back reevaluate where you’re going.

Having our two horses while working out outdoors makes Piyo even more relaxing!!
Snip-Its Motivation
Feed your fears and your faith will starve
Feed your faith and your fears will.
Max Lucado
We all have fears and some might look something like this:
Fear of failing...

Fear of the unknown
Fear of what the cost will be
Fear of what others will think
Fear of our best not matching up to others
For me it's a consistent fear my best is never enough by nature I want to put my all into something and it's easy to get distracted by others. Put the blinders on there will always be others that are faster, smarter, make it look easier.
Focus on your own personal growth and find your purpose
We all have fear
But here is the good news
We all have faith
The question is which emotion will you allow to be stronger?

Snip-Its Life
About 11 days ago I packed the kids up and went to our favorite feed store to pick out fruit trees. Turns out this is a great time of the year to plant them.

Two years ago I missed working you know wanting to create something that was my own (beyond the traditional business). It would be silly to work for someone else and would not work with our traditional business and my number one priority our kids. So I looked into what a coa...
ch really did and how it could fit our lifestyle. Two years later and I have an amazing team of coaches and the cool part is having my sister in this as well. she brings the leadership mindset I bring the business mindset and together it's been pretty cool to watch grow.

I could not help but think of this while getting ready to put these bad boys in the ground. Not having to check with my husband to spend money on a project that will bring plenty of memories. Being able to be as creative and truly have fun while working when the kids sleep.

If you're looking for something more in life and would love to do some projects around the house why
not you?

Creating a system for new coaches and helping them succeed as well as creating other leaders.

Snip-Its Family

My parents met in a barn when my mom was 14 years old!! My dad came to take pictures of her horse.
You could say that was just the beginning
We moved to a 40 acre farm when I was just 4 years old
It was the kind or place shoes were optional and no matter who visited everyone was welcomed
We always had a few ponies and did 4-H as kids...

The station wagon and horse trailer got us from point A to B
When my parents decided to put the farm up for sale last year it was super hard for my sisters and I.
Thankful the little slice of heaven we grew up did not sell right away
It’s been a transition over the past year
Now being able to create new memories at a new farm
Already one broken bone on the dirt bike

Snip-Its Birthdays
Happy 4th birthday to our little man
Of course it seems like yesterday it felt like the hottest summer ever!! I was waitressing at the time and Clint just kept growing with no real reason to come. Ahhh he was born by c-section weighing 10 lbs! !
Steve has named all of our kids and his name was decided very quickly on Clint.
For 4 years his sleeping has been....well let's just say thank God its get...ting better.
He's one determined little guy that wants to know exactly how everything works.
He's probably the only child this age when your making plans he needs to "check his work schedule ".
Loves his cowboy boots and will not wear anything else even during the summer.
♡♡ seeing him growing up

Snip-It Dinner time
Do you have a husband that likes to see "meat and potatoes " for dinner every night? And your trying to eliminate making multiple meals just to feed everyone?

This is a solution dinner》》
I can't get away with salmon too often and the meal still needs to have potatoes so it's coconut oil in a pan with regular potatoes for my husband and sweet potatoes for myself for homemade french fries.
...

The kids love corn and salmon

I have a wonderful "healthy" meatloaf recipe on my blog that happens to be a big hit.
So it's a winner!

I hope your snip-its in life make you smile fill the soul and make an impact on those around you in a positive way.  Take deep breaths while cleaning up after your little one's, one day it truly will be just that a snip-it of your life.  As always live life to the fullest and make every day count!!

How to stay on track for the holiday weekend

How to stay on track for the holiday weekend

Hey there country girl!! It's the holiday weekend!!  I'm guessing your ready to kick back and relax and take in the memories created over the past summer months and ready to turn the page into fall??  Did you totally rock your workouts and nutrition this summer or ready to dive in after Labor Day?  Either way I'm here and ready to share some helpful tips for anytime of the year.

How to stay on track for the holiday weekend

Watch Your Portions

The easiest way for me to remember how to control my portions is to make sure the majority of my plate is loaded up with veggies. You don’t have to deny yourself a bread roll or a slice of pie here and there…just make sure vegetables are the main part of your meal. That way, you will fill up on healthy, foods that will keep you full longer.

Grab a  friend (someone that will hold you to your goals)

The holidays are everyone’s favorite time of year to reunite with family and friends. One great way to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while is to make your get-together an active one. If one of your friends is in town for the holidays, plan a walking coffee date with her. Offer to join up with a friend and catch up while you lace up your shoes and get a sweat on while catching up.

Maximize Your Workout

No one wants to spend all day in the gym when there is holiday shopping, dinner parties, and friends coming over. So, if you only have 30 minutes to spare, make it worth your time by doing cardio go for a workout with higher calories burned for those extra treats you will take in following the 80/20 rule.

Just Add {Soda} Water

Cocktails go hand-in-hand with holiday celebrations, so it’s nearly impossible to avoid having one or two but lets leave it at that, they will only slow your metabolism down and leave you feeling sluggish the next day. However, that doesn’t mean you have to gulp down extra calories with your refreshment.  If you’re the type who likes specialty drinks, indulge in just one. Then, choose a low-calorie option for your second drink.

Have Fun Your Fitness Routine

Exercise can often be disguised in fun activities we love doing with friends and family. In fact, anything that gets your heart rate up will help to burn calories during the holidays (and burn off that pumpkin pie, too). At our home this weekend I'm sure the horses will be out and we will be messing around in the barn extra fun while burning extra calories.

Pamper Yourself

I’ll admit that when the weather cools down, I always want to indulge in every way—eating, online shopping, you name it. But, I have recently found that when I feel the need to do something like that pamper yourself even if it means buying new fingernail polish and taking 15 minutes out of your night to pamper yourself

Bring A Healthy Dish
Headed to a party?  Not sure what will be on the menu?  Offer to bring something healthy and pre eat before you go!!  Find folks to connect with and never gather around the food table.

Most importantly remember how hard you worked to get where your at!!  Progress might be put on pause for the weekend but your not going back words goal is to maintain!!  You got this!!

I want to leave you with a fun clean eating recipe that will be helpful for the weekend!!

Ingredients (serves 6)
  • 5 ears fresh corn, in the husk
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 of a small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small cucumber, seeded & finely chopped
  • 1/2 small red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
Instructions
Grill your corn on a hot grill (when the coals have just turned gray or medium-high on a gas grill), in the husks, until husks are charred all over,  for 15 minutes. When cool enough to handle, peel back the husks, taking the silk with them. Stand the corn cobs upright on a cutting board and using a sharp knife, cut straight down, slicing the kernels from the cob. Set aside.

Whisk together the lime juice, olive oil, honey, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl until fully combined. Add the corn, onion, cucumber, bell pepper, and mint; toss gently until everything is coated.

Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Have a great weekend!!
