How to stay on track while traveling

How to stay on track while traveling

I'm excited to share with you my secrets on staying on track while traveling.  To be honest this was something I would of never done in the past rather look at vacation as a time to kick back over eat and go home feeling bloated.  I truly believe in life balance is everything and it’s very important to kick back and relax keep in mind all your hard work that went into getting you where ours.  Or maybe you’re at the beginning of your journey and truly want to stay on track even with very little time under your belt.  Our family is not one to travel much to be honest we own our own excavation business so time away is limited.  But this week I will be traveling to Vegas as a beachbody coach for their yearly Summit.

With that being said there is no better time than NOW to nail nutrition.  This trip will include live workouts will celebrating
trainers and also the release of PiYo

Oatmeal is super easy to pre pack and put in your carry on.  I portioned out 1/2 cup oatmeal into baggies, 1 tbsp flaxseed and wheat germ. Every hotel has hot water and fresh fruit to add to your oatmeal.

These are my go to foods that will be easy to eat with not a lot prep involved and YES E&E will be needed on this trip.  What is E&E?  Nuts are an awesome way to  receive protein and healthy fat while traveling.

WATER!!!  YES a bottle of water that is easy to refill is so important I can't tell you how much money this will save.  This trip even with it just being me I will still be able to save money by refilling my water bottle.

Exercising- If you are the type of person who travels frequently but still need to get some exercise then I recommend taking your laptop with you.   When you are committed to a program you must make do with what you have!  No EXCUSES!  With the technology these days there is no reason why you can't workout!  So to kick this trip off right workout in even with a jam packed day!!

Alcohol -A huge part of eating out especially  when traveling is drinking!  It's so hard not to enjoy wine, beer and mixed drinks with others.  I'm not saying that you should never drink but you should decide if that dinner is going to be your cheat meal for the week.  Alcohol has a lot of excess sugar and empty calories.  So for starters limit your alcohol and for every drink that you have you are required to drink 1 full glass of water!  DEAL!!  This trip will be full of the chance to run progress out the door but making the choice in not "living in the moment" is key.

But what about eating out? When eating out restaurants always cook with high fat ingredients because it gives the food additional flavor.  But that always equals more calories!  So don't be afraid to ask for you veggies steamed without butter or your chicken sauteed or grilled plan!  Always ask for your salad dressing on the side and stay away from anything that is fried, cream based, smoother!  Don't be afraid to ask for your food to be prepared the way you want it!   Ask for the bread to be left in the kitchen, I mean its 2014 and as long as you go about asking for food to be prep a certain way coming across nice to the person that is waiting on you there is no reason why you can't eat out and eat healthy.

Being that is trip will be just me why not take advantage of some additional personal developmental.  Every try just 10 minutes a day of listening or reading material that enriches your life and adds value.  I dare you to try it for a month straight and see what happens.

I'm not going to lie and tell you this is simple but what I can tell you is by having a plan and setting your mind straight on where you want to be even 3 months from now passing on the extra here and there while on the road will be worth it when you come home.  Happy vacation!!
