Crock pot applesauce with flare

Crock pot applesauce with flare

Our family loves homemade apple sauce and even before eating clean this was a recipe that I made.  I love using granny smith apples for that extra tart, you can use any kind of apples it's all in what you want it to taste like.  This tends to be a winter fall recipe but also works great to make and cool for a warm summer day that is still very refreshing.

Clean crock pot apple sauce

Ingredients:
8 medium sized granny smith apples, peeled
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup water
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 Tbsp real maple syrup
1 Tbsp coconut sugar

Directions:

1. Peel apples and cut into quarters (core the apples as well).  Place in crock pot.
2. Add all remaining ingredients and stir lightly (just enough to mix ingredients).
3. Cook on low for 2 hrs.
4. Raise temperature and cook on high for 1.5 hrs.
5. Stir, slightly mashing any remaining apple chunks.
6. Enjoy!
